Micah Crews

Director of Development

Born in North Carolina and raised in Georgia, Micah Crews has called the Tri-Cities home for 30 years. Micah worked in higher education administration for 25 years. He is a graduate of King University with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree. Micah is excited to join the Brother’s Keeper family and help tell the story of this wonderful organization.

Ashlee Thompson

Program Director

Ashlee is originally from the Tri-Cities.  After high school, she obtained her Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Therapeutic Recreation at the University of Tennessee.  Her graduate work included Camp Koinonia, Therapeutic Recreation in Public Schools (TRiPS), and her published paper entitled ‘The Impact of Therapeutic Recreation Camps on Adults with Disabilities’.

Josh Salyer

Program Instructor

Josh was born and raised in Blountville, Tennessee. Josh is a proud graduate of ETSU where he earned his degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Concentration in Education and Communication.  While at ETSU, he was heavily involved in POP Arts and Turning Pages Together book club.

Kara Price

Program Instructor

Kara Price was born and raised in Johnson City.  She studied Early Childhood Education at ETSU and graduated in 2012, working in the Johnson City School System until 2016.  She then went on to earn her Master’s degree in Special Education from Carson-Newman University.

Ashley Whitmer

Program Instructor

Ashley “with a Y” is originally from Fairfax Virginia, but moved to Elizabethton in 2006. She graduated in 2018 from ETSU with a BS in Special Education, where she also was involved in POPArts throughout college. After college she went on to be a Special Education Teacher at Hunter Elementary for 3 years before starting at Brother’s Keeper.

Amanda Hartley

Program Instructor

Amanda started her career in Special Education as an assistant for 6 years. This ignited her passion and she went on to graduate from ETSU with a degree in Special Education. After graduation, she taught in the Carter County school system for 9 years before joining Brother’s Keeper.

Scott Peeples

Instructional Assistant

Scott is from Johnson City and graduated from ETSU with a B.S. in Sport and Leisure Management with a Park and Recreation Management Concentration.  Scott has spent several years working in the camp setting before starting at Brother’s Keeper.
